Solver engines

RangeCFR (heads-up)

RangeCFR is the postflop engine for two players. Start from a flop, turn or river with two ranges and your chosen bet sizes; the solver covers the remaining streets automatically. It keeps every hand combination separate and covers every remaining board card. It runs behind Run, HU mode, Recalculate Node on a heads-up node, and the night batch.

What is enumerated and what is approximate

  • Every combo in both ranges has its own strategy on the selected board.
  • Every turn and river card is dealt in every iteration. RangeCFR does not sample chance.
  • Accuracy is measured with a full best-response pass for each player against the average strategy.

The result after a finite run is an approximate equilibrium for the ranges and bet sizes you chose. Set an iteration count, a time limit or a target accuracy to decide when the run stops; the Acc pill shows its progress. Longer runs can pursue a more demanding target.

Run controls

  • Algorithm: the app offers DCFR-FF (fast forget), the default, and DCFR.
  • Stop conditions: choose an iteration count, Stop after time or a target accuracy. Setting Iterations to 0 removes the iteration cap; then set a time or accuracy target.
  • Memory profile: fp32, strategy16 (default) or compact16. strategy16 uses about 25% less RAM than fp32, and compact16 about 50% less.
  • RAM guard: the app caps the tree at 90% of free physical RAM. A larger tree does not start, instead of pushing Windows into swapping memory to disk.
Technical notes

The selected algorithm and memory profile affect speed, RAM use and convergence. Equivalent card situations can reduce work automatically when the input ranges and locks allow it. The Acc value estimates how close the result is to the best response within the configured tree; it is also shown in bb/100. The most compact memory profile may change displayed frequencies slightly.

Starting at a turn or river: enter the state at that street

Suppose the game began with 100 bb stacks but the selected river has 24 bb in the pot and 88 bb behind each player. Enter 24 and 88 for this river-root study, rather than the original blind pot and 100 bb. Supply the five-card board and the ranges conditioned on reaching this line.

A river solve has no future card branches, but its strategy still depends on both ranges and the betting actions. It is not an equity calculation against a single known opponent hand. A turn-root solve adds every possible river; a flop-root tree is larger again.

For a reproducible comparison, record the ranges, pot, stack behind, rake rule and allowed sizes. Set a stop rule and inspect the resulting accuracy. Saving a result at the node on screen stores that node, not an automatic exact replacement of the whole blueprint subtree.
